google-logo I love google, we love google isn’t it?, almost everything we can find through google. In this post (ahh.. its about a week i didn’t make a post here), i’ll try to explain how to google search from basic to advance operator. CMIWW :D .

Keyword search in this post will be put into square braket [], e.g: [haris] –> search keyword for haris.

Before we go forward, here some basic fact about google search we’ve to know:

- All the words you put in the query will be used
- Insensitive. [Haris Corner] is same as [haris corner]
- Punctuation is ignored (@#$%^&*()=+[]\)

Google Search Basic

1. Keep it short and simple

[pizza jakarta] is better than [pizza restaurant in jakarta]

2. Think how the page you are looking for will be written

[headache] maybe for [ my head hurts ]

3. Describe what you need with as few terms as possible

[weather surabaya] is better than [wether info surabaya city]

4. Choose Descriptive Words

[ celebrity ringtones ] is more specific and descriptive than [ringtones for download]

5. Double quote (” “) or (+)

for exact words. e.g: ["linus torvalds"] same to [linus+torvalds]

6. Specific website (site:)

search in spesific site, e.g: [wordpress theme site:hariscorner.com] , will be show all my post about wordpress theme

7. Exclude (“-”)

We can remove page with words we wan’t. e.g: [wordpress theme -premium] , looking for wordpress theme, but not premium themes.

8. Fill in the blanks (*)

Use blanks if you don’t much about it, it’ll show many result that you maybe looking for. e.g: [google *] –> show all about google and its products.

9. OR operator

e.g: [pemilu 2009 OR 2004] , will show us about pemilu indonesia 2009 (indonesian election 2009) or 2004

Advance Operators

1. cache:

[cache:hariscorner.com] –> show my site cache in google cache.

2. link:

[link:hariscorner.com] –> show all link from other page to my blog

3. related:

[related:google.com]–> show site related to google

4. info:

[info:hariscorner.com]–> show some information about my blog

5. define:

[define:google] –> define google gathered from various online sources.

6. allintitle: or intitle:

[allintitle:tukang nggame] –> show page with title tukang nggame

7. allinurl: and inurl:

[inurl:kampaye] –> show page with contain word kampanye in the url.
